The Beatitudes are not eight slogans, personality types, or steps for earning the kingdom. They announce kingdom character, divine regard, future promise, and a life formed under the reign of God.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Confess need without dressing it as spiritual achievement.
Father, form dependence in me. Keep me from turning this promise into performance, and show me the faithful practice that belongs beside this prayer.
Kingdom first. The sermon begins with Jesus, His disciples, the gathered crowd, and the announced reign of God.
Promise without sentimentality. Mourning, meekness, mercy, peacemaking, and persecution carry real cost.
Grace produces practice. The Beatitudes do not purchase God's favor; they reveal a people being formed under His rule.
